About Us

Friends for Change Foundation (FCF) is a nationally registered community-based charitable organisation with its headquarters in Port Maria, Jamaica.

Vision Statement
Friends for Change Foundation Limited, as a community based entity, will be the reference point for charitable organisations designed to empower individuals, families, and community groups so that they fulfill their social and economic obligations as citizens within the Jamaican society. The Foundation will be distinguished by its commitment to provide social welfare and to facilitate opportunities for the acquisition of life skills.

Mission Statement 

FCF seeks to be the conduit for and the catalyst of social change among the most vulnerable groups in St Mary. Further, the FCF aims to work assiduously at the individual, group and community levels to promote self-reliance and to empower persons to overcome the social injustices they face.


Goals of FCF

  • Foster a holistic and value-added social environment in which the most vulnerable citizens can access goods and services so that they                 achieve socially functioning
  • Empower citizens to a point where they are able to contribute towards the development of self, others and the society at large
  • Provide life skill services in response to present and future social, economic, aesthetic and personal needs of their community.





Nigel Nelson
Founder and Principal Director

Nigel Nelson is the founder and principal director among the board of directors of Friends for Change Foundation and is also the proud father of two children.


As a professional, he has over eighteen (18) years of teaching experience across different levels of the Jamaican education system. For the past ten (10) years, he has been lecturing at the Moneague College and continues to serve there.


Nigel Nelson’s vision is to not only give service to his teaching profession but to fulfill his obligation to humanity by challenging social injustices that vulnerable groups face as well as to protect the natural environment. Categories among these vulnerable groups include: children living in poverty and generally, the deserving poor, the elderly, the disabled and at-risk teens. His belief is steeped within a mantra which says: ‘True purpose in life comes through living for others’.



Cyreta A Henry

Director

Cyreta Henry has served as an educator for over thirteen (13) years and presently works as a Mathematics Coach with the Ministry Of Education. Her extensive knowledge in the field of education and her ability to develop and foster interpersonal relationships are a few of her strongest qualities. She also has a deep passion and commitment to helping others.


Cyreta Henry has a unique level of resiliency and optimism that serves her well. She wholesomely agrees with Denzel Washington who states that, “At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”


Her goal is to live an impactful life where she can serve as a positive role model to all that she comes in contact with.


She is a proud mother of one child.






Michelle Ann Frazer-Reid

Director


Michelle Ann Frazer-Reid is a director on the board of Friends for Change Foundation and is also the proud mother of one child.


As a professional, she has over five (5) years of teaching experience at the primary level of the Jamaican education system. She is currently employed as a grade 6 teacher at the Clonmel Primary and Infant School in Highgate St. Mary.


Michelle's vision is not only to educate, mold and transform young minds, but also to help those who are in need by whatever means possible. This includes volunteering her services to the less fortunate or those who are in need as well as to offer assistance by giving or sourcing supplies that are needed. Michelle is driven by the mantra: "You can find an excuse or you can find a way."
